The Old Lady and the Nerazzurri met in the final of the Italian Cup in a quest to win the much-coveted competition and the capital city was bouncing with the presence of two powerhouses in Italian football. Inter scored in the seventh minute when Nicolo Barella found the net and from there it was all Inter dominating key areas of the pitch and running the show, making their fans cheer wildly.
Juventus equalized and then began entering the game slowly and soon we had a game on our hands. Juventus then scored a second goal and were firmly in the lead and it seemed they were going to clinch silverware in regulation time but Inter had other plans.
Inter scored before full-time to make it all square at 2-2, taking the game to extra-time. At the beginning of extra-time, it was end-to-end football and it was an exciting scene with real attacking football to watch. Following Calhanoglu’s penalty goal in the 80th minute, Inter were looking very ready to win the game and Croatian winger Ivan Perisic scored in the 99th minute giving Inter the lead.
Three minutes later, Inter had extended their lead to 2-4 when Perisic scored a penalty to take the game away from the Old Lady Of Turin. Juventus began attacking and kept attacking but Inter’s defence was resolute and they held on for the win. it was a memorable night for the Milan club who also boasted silverware last season when they won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
Juventus are working to bring new players into the club next season and is also selling a good number as well. Captain Giorgio Chiellini is leaving at the end of the season and the veteran defender has been contacted by MLS clubs. Los Angeles FC are interested in the centre-back and will start negotiations at the beginning of the transfer window when Chiellini will be a free agent.
Matthijs De Ligt remains linked to a move to Chelsea and it is likely that the London club will come calling after sending scouts to watch the Holland international on several occasions. The 22-year-old is open to offers from England but will not leave Juventus if the offer is not from the Premier League. De Ligt won the Golden Boy award in 2019, becoming one of the few defenders to ever win the award.
