According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, election materials in Akete Asibiti wards in the Donga local government area of Taraba State have been destroyed by hoodlums. Donga is the hometown of the APC gubernatorial candidate Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, while Akate and Asibiti wards are considered a stronghold of the opposition APC.
Elder James Chimin, a resident, revealed to a correspondent via phone that heavily armed hoodlums attacked the Ward headquarters at 6:30 am while INEC officials were about to move election materials to various polling units, and started shooting indiscriminately.
Meanwhile, there is apparent voter apathy in Wukari local government, the hometown of the PDP governorship candidate, as reported by the correspondent. Some voters expressed concerns about the security of voters in Wukari.
After casting his vote at the Ebeneza primary school, the PDP governorship candidate Col. Kefas Agbu commended the process so far and expressed confidence that the exercise would be peaceful despite the incident in the Akate and Asibiti wards of Donga. He appealed to voters to behave in an orderly manner for the success of the exercise.
