CAF Postpones Tournament Start to August as 19 Nations Prepare for Action
Nigeria’s Home Eagles have been placed in Pot C for the upcoming draw of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The draw ceremony is set to take place tonight at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya.
A total of 19 countries will compete in the biennial tournament, which features only players who compete in their domestic leagues. The Home Eagles share Pot C with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.
The three co-host nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—have been placed in Pot A, along with other top-seeded teams.
CAF Postpones Tournament Start
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently announced a change in the tournament schedule. Originally slated for February, the competition will now kick off in August 2024.
The shift provides more preparation time for the participating teams, including Nigeria, as they gear up for the prestigious tournament aimed at showcasing local talent across the continent.
