Erica Messer, showrunner-producer-writer for the CBS series “Criminal Minds”, said that the team behind the show never wanted it to end. Paramount+ has already ordered a revival of “Criminal Minds” to be aired in 2020. The team wanted to bring their audience what they know they loved.
“Criminal Minds: Evolution” is a crime drama about criminal profilers for the FBI and their efforts to anticipate criminals in order to stop them before they can strike again. The fans have been excited by six original cast members who are returning and the title of the show, “Criminal Minds: Evo.” Paramount+ released some footage of what’s expected to come and we can be excited too.
Here’s What We Know So Far About The ‘Criminal Minds:
What is Criminal Minds: Evolution about?
Paramount+ has already announced the title for its “Criminal Minds” revival, which will be called “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” It will follow six prominent cast members who must face their greatest threat yet. The show is set against the backdrop of the pandemic and follows an unknown subject (portrayed by Zach Gilford from “Friday Night Lights”) who has managed to build a network of serial killers.
“The FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers comes up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.”
Meet the cast of Criminal Minds: Evolution
Irony has propelled the original Criminal Minds’ revival, as the show has six major players from its 15-season run. David Rossi, Emily Prentiss, Tara Lewis, JJ Jareau, Penelope Garcia and Luke Alvez will face their greatest challenge yet when profiling a mastermind who used the world’s pandemic to build his network of killers.
From Entertainment Weekly‘s Fall Preview: the characters are in very different places in their lives now, and the revival will use a new perspective to explore their stories.
There are a few changes in the BAU team, including Prentiss exited the unit chief position and Rossi stepped into her place. However, this transition is hard because Rossi has been through a tragedy himself and might be in denial or anger. Alvez has been assigned to handle the cases that happens locally which is near JJ and Lewis’s home. JJ and Lewis have been called to do plenty of consultant jobs which meant that they had to stay away from home for many nights.
When will Criminal Minds: Evolution premiere?
The first season of Criminal Minds: Evolution will run 10 episodes. The series will be released on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022. It will then return to weekly episodes that are available on Thursdays through December 15, 2022. Messer has said they’ll make this season stay true to its roots and won’t explore any R-rated content which would change the feel of the show during this time.
