King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword director, Guy Ritchie has shown keen interest on working on a Suicide Squad 2.
Ritchie on Variety’s Playback podcast explained:
“I quite fancy doing Suicide Squad 2, because I thought I could do a good job with it,”
“I can’t do it because I’m doing something else. But… I’m a guy that likes to work, so I’m gonna work. And I’ll work with whatever I can to make it work.
“I’ve felt I could really do something with that.
I am not an absolutlist about what a genre is, so I’m not a no man, I’m a yes man when it comes to making something manifest. That said, I just want it to be interesting.
I want it to feel fresh, I want it to feel interesting and I want it to feel something that is worth me taking my $15 dollars to the cinema and going “that was worth it” That’s it.”
When the host, Christopher Tapley said “maybe Suicide Squad 3”, Ritchie said “Has someone gotten to it? No, but I really felt like I could do something with that.”
Ritchie’s creative style would be a fantastic fit for the franchise, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like it will happen. Previous director David Ayer is not thinking of a sequel.
