Crystal Palace are considering signing Conor Gallagher on a full-time basis. The Chelsea midfielder spent the entire 2021/2022 season on loan with the Eagles and will return to Chelsea this July for pre-season.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has spoken highly of Gallagher and has said the 22-year-old has a chance with the Blues next season. Tuchel has heaped praises on Gallagher following his great season at Crystal Palace, being their most influential player on the pitch. Combining his attacking prowess and defensive traits, Gallagher can play as a central midfielder and also an attacking midfielder.
Chelsea have held meetings about Gallagher’s future and a good number of board members believe he ought to remain at the club. Many speculations have linked him to a permanent move to South London but nothing concrete has been agreed upon as of yet.
The England international has been linked to other clubs like West Ham, Newcastle, and even outside England. Gallagher is respectful to his boyhood club and will return to Chelsea for pre-season ahead of the 2022/2023 season.
Crystal Palace are now ready to part ways with £30m to sign Gallagher on a permanent deal. The Palace executives are weighing up a five-year contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park till the summer of 2027. Gallagher is waiting for Chelsea to offer him a new contract to remain a Blue. However, the general feeling is that if Chelsea does not meet up with Gallagher’s demands, he may choose Crystal Palace and sources close to him have claimed he had an excellent time in that part of London.
Strong reports in the English capital claim that Gallagher is willing to continue and fight for a place in the Chelsea squad and he is confident of making a breakthrough soon. Gallagher was included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the UEFA Nations League qualifiers against Germany, Hungary, and Italy.
