TV Personality Succumbs to Injuries After Being Stabbed in Palm Springs; Suspect in Custody
Eduardo Xol, the former star of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, has tragically passed away at the age of 58, just a week after being stabbed in Palm Springs, California. His death was confirmed by the Riverside County Coroner and his mother, with the TV personality succumbing to his injuries on September 19 at Desert Regional Medical Center.
Xol, who gained fame as part of the popular reality show, had been in critical condition after the stabbing incident. Palm Springs police discovered him in an apartment on September 10, after he called authorities for help. He was found with severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remained in serious but stable condition before his passing.
The Palm Springs Police Department has arrested 34-year-old Richard Joseph Gonzales of Cathedral City in connection with the stabbing. Gonzales was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently being held without bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio. Authorities have since requested that murder charges be filed following Xol’s death.
Gonzales reportedly contacted police on the day of the attack, claiming to have been the victim of an assault the previous night. After further investigation, police identified him as the primary suspect in Xol’s stabbing.
Eduardo Xol was best known for his role in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, where he joined the cast in the show’s second season. His career also included roles in popular telenovelas such as Acapulco, cuerpo y alma, Sentimientos Ajenos, and La Jaula de Oro.
Friends and colleagues have started paying tribute to the late TV star. Richard Pérez-Feria, a close friend of Xol, described him as a “talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son, and partner” in a heartfelt message shared on social media.
