Brume jumped 7 meters ahead of Brooke Buschkuehl and Deborah Acquah, who came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

With this feat, Brume took Nigeria’s medals haul to 35, 12 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze.

Overcoming her health problems, Brume won silver at the world championship in Oregon, Eugene, United States. She had a 6.81-meter jump to qualify for the group.

Brume’s compatriot, Ruth Usoro finished sixth with a 6.58 meters jump in the final.

In 2014, Brume made big headlines in Glasgow, Scotland, where she won the Commonwealth Games gold medal, her first major competition at the senior level.

In 2018, she was denied the opportunity of defending her title at the Gold Coast, Australia, after the former board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), left her out of the list of 28 athletes for the Games.
