Court Fines Oxlade ₦5m Over Leaked Sex Tape

Nigerian singer, Oxlade has been fined five million nairas by a Lagos High Court over his leaked sex tape of a young lady.

In February 2022, a sex tape which involved Oxlade and a woman went viral on the internet.

However, she filed a suit against the singer seeking N20 million damages and disclosed that Oxlade leaked the sex tape without her consent.

The plaintiff stated that the act constituted a gross violation of her fundamental rights to dignity, privacy, and freedom from discrimination.

The judge, O. A. Oresanya of a high court in Lagos state presided over the matter on Tuesday.

In a judgment of the case by Justice Oresanya, he described Oxlade’s actions as despicable, horrendous, distasteful and classless.

“The action and attitude of the Respondent “Oxlade”, who is said to be a celebrity, is despicable, horrendous, distasteful and classless. The Respondent is admonished strongly to act with utmost circumspection in his relationship with fellow humans, especially the opposite sex. “what goes around comes around”. I need not say more.”

E. T. Idemudia and O. S. Mabekoje, the legal representative for the claimant, and U. R. Michael, Oxlade’s legal counsel, agreed to opt for an amicable resolution via a consent judgment.

In the end, Oxlade was ordered to pay N5 million in damages to the claimant, split into two instalments of N2 million and N3 million.
