Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has sent a warning message to herdsmen grazing in the southeast.

The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, has sent a warning message to herdsmen grazing in the southeast to steer clear of his state while being armed with AK-47 rifles or be prepared for arrest and prosecution.

The governor said any herdsman who enters Anambra state with AK-47 rifles would be arrested and prosecuted. Obiano, however, noted that he would soon launch operation Kpachapu II to mop up all criminals in the state.

Vanguard reports that the governor also warned that any farm crop or crops destroyed by cattle would be paid for by the herders as contained in the terms of reference handed to a cattle menace committee established by the state government.

Obiano who spoke at a thanksgiving service organized by the lawmaker representing Orumba north-south federal constituency, Okwudili Ezenwankwo, declared that any herdsman who crosses to the state with AK-47 rifles would be arrested.

He said: “If you cross into Anambra state with an AK-47, you will be arrested and if your cattle destroy a farm crop, you will pay for it, just as if you kill a cow, you will pay for it.” vanguardngr.com

Meanwhile, Informations previously reported that southeast governments commenced moves to set up forest guards to check the destructive and criminal activities of some herdsmen and their cattle.
