Music Mogul’s Lawyer Says It’s Routine for High-Profile Inmates, Not a Reflection of His Mental State
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in New York City, but his lawyer insists that the music mogul is not suicidal. According to Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s attorney, the precautionary measure was issued by MDC officials as part of a routine process for “new, high-profile inmates.”
Agnifilo told TMZ that he spent six hours with Diddy on Thursday and found him to be “strong, healthy, confident, and focused on his defense.” He emphasized that his client was “not at all suicidal.”
Diddy was arrested on Monday night after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Since his arrest, he has remained in custody as his legal team battles to secure bail.
Two judges have so far denied Diddy’s bail requests, agreeing with federal prosecutors who argue that he poses a danger to the community and has allegedly tampered with witnesses in the case.
Meanwhile, Agnifilo has requested that Diddy be transferred to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey, citing concerns about the notorious conditions at Brooklyn’s MDC, which has long been criticized for its sickening living conditions. The request is currently under review.
