Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, has opened up about a Drake sample that was initially intended for inclusion on his latest album, “Timeless.”
The internationally acclaimed superstar has recently unveiled his highly anticipated studio album, “Timeless.” Featuring 17 tracks, the album boasts guest appearances from an impressive roster of artists such as Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Musa Keys, Focalistic, FAVE, The Cavemen, Dexta Daps, and newly signed talents from his rebranded DMW 2.0 label, Logos Olori and Morravey. “Timeless” follows in the footsteps of Davido’s previous successful albums: “A Better Time,” “A Good Time,” and “Omo Baba Olowo (The Genesis).”
During an interview with BEAT FM, which temporarily rebranded itself as TIMELESS FM for two days in honour of the celebrated musician, Davido revealed that he had originally planned to feature DJ Khaled-endorsed artist Fridayy on the album. However, due to difficulties in clearing a Drake sample on time, he ultimately decided to release “Timeless” without the collaboration.
Despite the absence of the anticipated track, Davido’s “Timeless” remains a testament to his musical prowess and diverse talents, showcasing his continued growth and success in the industry.
