COVID-19: Ebonyi State Governor, Aides Test Positive
Governor Dave Umahi tests positive for COVID-19

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The governor confirmed the news in a statement today, Saturday, July 4, 2020.

According to Governor Umahi, he and some of his aides underwent the COVID test and the results came back positive. He added that they were not showing any symptoms but had gone into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

He urged the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over the frontline coordination of the state’s battle against the pandemic in order to protect the people of Ebonyi State.

Governor Umahi also appealed to residents of the state to adhere to the NCDC guidelines while stating that he is working from home and will conduct virtual meetings.

Ebonyi State presently has 438 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 357 persons having recovered and 3 dead.
