On Monday, civil servants in Delta state were addressed by Ovie Omo Agege, the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate and deputy Senate president, ahead of the upcoming election.
The workers, who had gathered at the Grand Hotel in Asaba, were promised better deals if they vote for Omo Agege during the election. The Nigerian Tribune reported that some workers arrived at the venue before 3 pm and queued up to register in groups before the candidate addressed them at about 5.30 pm. Although the conference hall was filled to capacity, many of the workers remained outside for hours.
Omo Agege promised an all-inclusive government, assuring the workers that no one would be victimized based on their origin. He promised to improve the capacity of the workforce, fund the three universities established by the outgoing governor, and pay the workers a thirteenth month’s salary every December. He further stated that his administration would be fair and equitable.
