UEFA Champions League semi-final draw will see Liverpool face As Roma and on the other hand Bayern Munich against current holders Real Madrid.
Liverpool sealed their way into the semifinals through a remarkable win in both legs against Premier League leaders, Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate.
High hopes for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds to win the club’s sixth European title but they face a though task in the semis as they’ll face a powerful AS Roma who dumped out heavyweights Barcelona in the quarter-final.
The Serie A side, Roma produced a remarkable comeback to knock out Barcelona. The Italian team lost the first leg 4-1 in Spain, but progressed on away goals following a 3-0 home victory.
The other semi-final will be between European heavyweights Bayern Munich and holders Real Madrid, who needed a dramatic stoppage-time penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo to see off Juventus after the Italian outfit had come back from 3-0 down in the first leg to level the tie.
The first legs will be played on April 24 and 25, with the second legs played on May 1 and 2.
Speaking after Tuesday’s win over Man City, Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admitted he was wary of the threat of Roma, despite many deeming them a favoured opponent to face.
“People might say Roma is the preference, but look at what they just did! No, it doesn’t matter who we get, we have to make sure we are ready for anyone, and we can beat anyone.”
Before the draw, AS Roma foward, Edin Dzeko says his team will go all the way for it in the semis, in his words:
“Hopefully we’ll go all the way! No one believed in us, but we’ve managed to reach the semi-finals for the first time. I’m very happy that I’ll can watch the #UCLdraw and see Roma there.”
