Unknown gunmen have abducted a Catholic priest around Bishop’s Court, Issele Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Council, Delta State.
The Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi of Saints Peter & Paul, Issele Asagba, was said to have been under surveillance and was kidnapped on his farm during the weekend.
The news was confirmed by Rev. Fr. Charles Uganwan, the Communication Director, Catholic Diocese of Issele Uku, who said that the matter had been reported to the security agencies and that members of the church had begun prayers for his release.
Speaking further, Uganwan disclosed that the kidnappers had not contacted them or made any ransom demand. He pleaded with them to release the abducted priest unconditionally.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpeya, confirmed the incident, stating: “The police have been dispatched to the bush to rescue the Catholic Priest.”
