BREAKING: Keyamo Drags Atiku To Court

Following the expiration of his 72-hour ultimatum, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo(SAN), on Friday, approached the Federal High Court in Abuja for an order to compel the arrest and prosecution of  Atiku Abubakar.

Cited as 2nd to 4th defendants in his suit are the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB; the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

In the suit filed by Keyamo, he is asking the court to compel the 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants to investigate, invite and or arrest the 1st defendant, Abubakar, over corruption allegations relating to a certain bank belonging to a company named Marine Float and other accounts of two undisclosed companies, which information Keyamo says was divulged to a certain aide by the name Michael Achimugu.

It will be recalled that Keyamo had in a letter dated January 16, demanded Atiku’s arrest, interrogation and prosecution for alleged money laundering.

He maintained that the PDP flag-bearer should be quizzed by the relevant agencies, following what he insisted was an indicting revelation by a whistleblower, Michael Achimugu.

Michael Achimugu, who claimed to be a former aide to Atiku, recently made some allegations of corruption against him (Atiku).

He alleged that Atiku used Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to siphon public funds when he served as vice president between 1999 and 2007.

SPV, according to trade finance global, is used to break down the risk associated with a pool of assets held by a parent company. These are legal entities created by a parent company to isolate the financial risk of certain assets, projects, or ventures.

Mr Achimugu also released audio records of discussions between him and Atiku, in which the latter was admitting to creating SPVs to hide slush funds.

However, the Atiku campaign team denied the allegations and accused the ruling party of sponsoring Mr Achimugu to make the allegations.
