The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Benue, Michael Inalegwu, has announced that Friday, February 24th, 2023 will be a work-free day in the state.
This decision was made at the State Executive Council on Thursday. Inalegwu explained that the work-free day was declared to allow workers in the state to travel to their respective communities and participate in the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.
However, Inalegwu noted that some sectors, including the judiciary, security, banks, hospitals, and fire services, were exempted from the work-free day. He urged workers in these sectors to continue to provide essential services to the public.
In addition, Inalegwu called on the people of Benue to conduct themselves peacefully during the election, as they have done in previous ones.
