Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25th election, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release the governorship results for Adamawa state immediately. He expressed concern over the delay in the release of the results despite a peaceful conduct of the elections. According to Atiku, the delay is unacceptable and could trigger unrest in the state.
Atiku alleged that the PDP won the election, and there is no justification for the withholding of the results. He emphasized that Adamawa has been a peaceful state before the election, and they will not allow INEC to divide the state. He insisted that records available to them indicate that the PDP flagbearer and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri won in 20 of the 21 local government areas, with only one outstanding.
The former Vice President called on Nigerians and the International Community to be aware of the situation and put pressure on INEC to release the results immediately. He urged the electoral umpire to act promptly to avoid a breakdown of law and order in Adamawa state.
In conclusion, Atiku Abubakar maintained that the delay in releasing the results is an attempt to subvert the will of the people, and the PDP will not tolerate any further delay. He called on INEC to discharge its duties in a transparent and impartial manner and release the results without further delay.
