Barcelona star Ronald Araujo is hoping to extend his stay at the Camp Nou beyond his current contract. The 22-year-old has become a colossal figure in the heart of Barcelona’s defence, playing as a centre back and deputising as a right-back.
Araujo and his agent are now in the final stages of the contract extension phase and the Uruguay international is very optimistic about being a Blaugurana next season. A good amount of clubs have enquired about his avauavailabi but neither he nor Barca want to end the football relationship and such enquiries have been rebuffed.
Araujo helped Uruguay qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where Uruguay joins Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador as representatives of South America.
The defender is full focused on Barcelona as they look to finish the season strong. Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona manager speaks highly of Araujo and wants the club to gicw him an improved deal.
Meanwhile Barca are not giving up on keeping Ousmane Dembele beyond this season. The Frenchman turned down a new deal with the club and insists his demands have not been met. The club are feverishly working to ensure Dembele will sign a three-year contract to keep him till June 2025.
