Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has joined the upcoming Matrix movie in a leading role.
The black-skinned actor who played Black Manta (an antagonistic character who fought Jason Momoa’s Aquaman) joins Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their roles.
It was revealed that the director, Lana Wachowski’s meeting with actors for the yet-to-be-identified role resulted in Abdul-Mateen’s casting choice.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is an American architect and actor. He starred in the 2017 movies Baywatch and The Greatest Showman. His role as the villainous Black Manta in Aquaman introduced him to movie audiences worldwide.
