Charlie Hunnam has been hired to play the lead role in the forthcoming Apple series Shantaram.
The series is based on Gregory David Robert’s novel and will represent the international production for Apple TV Plus, after the rights to the novel was acquired by the company in June 2018.
The 2003 novel is about a man named Lin (who Hunnam will play), on the run from a prison in Australia, who makes his way to Bombay, hoping to get lost in the teeming city. Separated from family and friends, he is introduced to India’s underworld and slums.
Charles Matthew Hunnam is an English actor and model. He is best known for playing Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller in the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014). His movie roles include Raleigh Becket in Pacific Rim (2013), and Arthur in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017).
