As Abia residents eagerly await the continuation of the collation of governorship results, anxiety has continued to build up across the region. The Presiding Officer, Professor Nnenna Oti, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, adjourned the collation process until 10 am on Monday. However, as of 11:07 am on Monday, the exercise was yet to resume.
Media practitioners, security personnel, and party agents were all present at the Collation Centre in Umuahia, which is the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. However, the Returning Officer had not yet arrived, leaving everyone to wait in anticipation.
According to the latest reports, Dr Alex Otti of the Labour Party was leading comfortably in the 10 Local Government Areas that were declared as of Sunday. This news has caused a surge of excitement among LP supporters who gathered around the INEC office, hoping for the final declaration of the remaining results.
The delay in the collation process has caused even more anxiety among the people, who are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the election. It is hoped that the Returning Officer will arrive soon, so that the collation process can continue and the final results can be declared.
