Adesua Etomi-Wellington, popular Nollywood actress, has opened up about the concern and uncertainty that gripped her when her husband, Olubankole Wellington, widely known as Banky W, shared his plans to venture into the political scene.
The talented singer and actor, Banky W, first made his political intentions known on November 11, 2018. He sought to secure the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat under the umbrella of the Modern Democratic Party. However, in the 2019 elections held on February 23, Banky W was unsuccessful, losing to Babajide Obanikoro from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Undeterred by his initial loss, Banky W threw his hat in the ring once again during the 2023 elections. This time, he aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but unfortunately lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Attah Thaddeus.
During a recent sit-down with Hip TV, Adesua revealed her initial fears and concerns about her husband’s political ambitions. She admitted that she was “worried” and “disturbed” when the singer first broached the subject.
However, Adesua explained that she chose to stand by her husband despite her initial fears. She emphasized that “purpose is more important than fear,” and expressed her desire to see Banky W fulfil his purpose.
“When Banky expressed his desire to venture into politics, I was initially apprehensive,” Adesua confessed. “But I also firmly believe that purpose trumps fear. Seeing him fulfil his purpose is what I desire the most. So, he has my unwavering support, 100 per cent,” she affirmed.
Banky W’s foray into politics, though marked by challenges, is endorsed by his wife, who believes in his purpose and stands by him, underscoring the importance of supportive relationships in navigating life’s uncharted territories.
