There should never be a time when questions should not be asked as regards the politicking of our dear Nigeria. On March 28, 2018, the Kogi state police command declared of Senator Dino Melaye wanted for his alleged involvement in arm case. As much as some people see it as the seeming belief of the current government clampdown on vibrant opposition to her policies, some still belief it is a necessary step to curb the excesses of the senator. Whichever way it is, once you have been declared wanted, you should be arrested when you are seen especially in the same place you have been declared wanted.
However, the Nigerian Police Force made a mockery of itself when senator Dino Melaye strolled in majestically to the state yesterday to attend the eight days fidau prayer of late Buba Jibril, a fedreal lawmaker representing Lokoja Kogi Koton Karfe who died last week Thursday. Melaye arrived at the venue on the convoy of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki. The senator came in easily and left easily after waving to his supporters at the ground of the event. A wanted man for his alleged involvement in arms deal which could lead to the death of many during the 2019 general elections made a joke of the Nigerian Police Force.
The fact that the senator was allowed to come and leave freely clearly shows how consistent the NPF and the federal government are in trying to make a joke out of a serious issue. Senator Dino Melaye is not a saint and he could have just been made one as he showed to the whole world that he is not really a wanted man by the Nigerian Police Force. If there is going to be a joke among government agencies, it should not be the security agency. Senator Dino and the NPF have scored one more mark in making Nigeria an already rehearsed stage play.
