Panic in Bayelsa as gunmen kidnap a 84-year-old monarch in Southern Ijaw local government area on Wednesday, October 3.
The victim is said to be the monarch of Tarakiri clan in the area, His Royal Majesty, King Agbabou Week and is also s the father of the state commissioner for agriculture, Doodei Week.
He was reportedly kidnapped about 11.20 p.m. by seven masked men, who reportedly carried high-tech weapons. The gunmen also carted away television sets, jewelry, and other valuables after looting his home at Ayama-Ijaw in the council.
Asinim Butswat, spokesperson of Bayelsa police command confirmed the incident and promised to give details later.
There are however, concerns about the security situation as Bayelsa prepares for a governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16.
