A 29-year-old whistleblower named James has been sentenced to 2 years in prison for giving false information and misleading the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission.
Justice Angela Otaluka of an Abuja High Court on Monday handed the sentence to the young man who was charged to court in 2017 on two counts of knowingly providing false information and giving a false name.
James had claimed that he had knowledge of the transfer of a large sum of money from Abuja to a poultry farm in Niger State by his boss.
It was also revealed that the convict had given the court a false name, John, but his real name was discovered to be James.
The defense counsel had pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as the convict was a first-time offender, and the Judge had given him the 2-year sentence.
