Murphy was just 19years old when he burst onto the national scene as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and went on to almost single-handedly keeping the show alive during its troubled times in the 1980s.
At the same time, he was already making a name for himself as a TV performer and crossed over to Hollywood, proving himself a bona fide star.
As good as Murphy was on SNL and in the movies, he was even better on the standup comedy stage. Unfortunately, the performer left the stage to focus on his movie career.
News of his hitting the road to go back to standup comes as he is set to return to host SNL in December for the first time since 1984.
Murphy is also ready to return to the role of Hakeem in the movie, Coming 2 America.
His new film, Dolemite Is My Name, is coming soon, with a release date of October 4, 2019.
