#SayNoToXenophobia: YCee And AKA At Loggerheads

Nigerian rapper, Ycee and South-African counterpart AKA are currently at loggerheads over the Xenophobia onslaught going on in South Africa.

Nigerians in South African have become victims in several Xenophobia attacks and the whirlwind has been revoked again. YCee is not having it with AKA on this topic and the two rappers are exchanging opinions on the national issue.

It all started with Ycee’s thread:

I don’t rate South African men at this point … and I’m not trying to create any form of animosity between us and them (that they don’t already feel against us) It is really sad that In 2019 Xenophobia is what we are still facing and discussing as a problem

There is this subtle dislike that a lot of them (If not all) feel towards Nigerians and no matter how hard they try to hide it .. it eventually jumps out – like when AKA had a full childish grown man tantrum when they lost to Nigeria in the nations cup

Worst part of this thing is South Africans (or any other foreign nationals) will never feel unsafe in Nigeria. We even treat foreigners better than we treat ourselves, which I believe needs to change. The rest of the world doesn’t respect us Cos we don’t respect ourselves

Amid all the drama, AKA tries to throw his towel and wedge his support around Nigerians but Ycee was quick to remind that he was among the South African that made inciting comments.

AKA’s response to Ycee recalling the football match event between Nigeria and South Africa spurs more reactions.

AKA tweeted:

South Africa and Nigeria is the continent’s BIGGEST RIVALRY … a SIBLING RIVALRY because we are brothers and sisters … I also hate losing to Australia for fuvks sake. Let’s pull together as Africans and stop dividing ourselves. This whole narrative is stupid!!!

And Ycee decided to end it with AKA on this note:

Bro if you refuse to see the underlying implications of what you tweeted There’s really no need for the back and forth As public figures we should always recognize the strength our platforms carry! I have no agenda or narrative to push I’m just deeply hurt and that’s that!

This is the first time these rappers would cross each other – and it’s not even a diss in their craft but on a national issue. We hope they get over this soon.
