Legal team claims Homeland Security orchestrated the release of the 2016 hotel footage to damage Diddy’s reputation

Diddy Accuses Federal Government of Leaking Cassie Assault Video In a shocking new twist, Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team have accused the federal government of orchestrating the leak of a 2016 video showing the music mogul allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Diddy’s attorneys specifically pointed the finger at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for leaking the video to CNN.

The video, which surfaced on May 17, shows Diddy violently beating Cassie in the hallway of the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles during their relationship. Diddy’s lawyers claim that federal agents had a motive to release the footage, with the intent of damaging his reputation, without any financial gain involved.

The legal team further alleges that the leak came at a convenient time, noting that on May 17 there was a break in former President Donald Trump’s trial, potentially giving the video more media attention due to the slow news cycle.

Diddy’s attorneys say a CNN correspondent contacted a member of his team hours before releasing the video, stating, “We currently have in our possession surveillance footage from the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles in 2016.” Diddy’s lawyers immediately alerted the prosecutors on his case, expressing concern that someone had leaked the footage, likely without the knowledge of the legal team.

Following the video’s release, an Assistant United States Attorney reportedly responded, “We really appreciate you giving us a heads-up. We have now seen the video,” but Diddy’s legal team maintains their belief that DHS was behind the leak, citing previous instances where DHS agents had been quoted in stories related to the Diddy investigation.

They also ruled out Cassie as the source of the leak, suggesting her lawsuit against Diddy did not imply that she had possession of the tape or had any reason to leak it to the media.

In addition to the claims about the video, Diddy’s legal team criticized the federal raids on his Los Angeles and Miami homes, accusing agents of using excessive force, including handcuffing his children.

Diddy’s lawyers are pushing for an evidentiary hearing to investigate the leak and assess the appropriate legal remedy.
