Osimhen Seals Season-Long Loan with Turkish Champions After Failed Chelsea Move
Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has confessed that the club was initially reluctant to let Victor Osimhen leave on loan. Osimhen, who was close to joining Chelsea on transfer deadline day, ultimately completed a season-long loan move to Galatasaray, the Turkish Super Lig champions, after the Chelsea deal fell through.
Speaking on the situation, Manna revealed that Napoli had not planned to loan out the 25-year-old striker but were forced to reconsider after Galatasaray’s offer arrived after the Italian transfer window had closed.
“At the beginning, we were not open to the loan, something that had also been discussed with other teams, but then Galatasaray came forward when the market was closed in Italy and we found a solution that was right for everyone. Obviously, we would have liked to sell Osimhen,” Manna told Radio CRC via GOAL.
Osimhen made his debut for Galatasaray last Saturday against Caykur Rizespor and is expected to make his second appearance this Saturday against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
