In a shocking incident on Sunday night, the Emir of Gurku in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Jubril Mohammed, and his wife were abducted by gunmen believed to be kidnappers. The abduction took place at around 10 pm at the Emir’s residence in Gurku, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Confirming the unfortunate incident, the Nasarawa State Police Command released an official statement verifying the kidnap of Emir Jubril Mohammed and his wife by suspected kidnappers. The State Police Spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, revealed that the perpetrators invaded the Emir’s palace, situated approximately 10 kilometers away from the main town of Gurku in Karu local government area.
In response to the distressing situation, the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Maiyaki, immediately deployed a combined team of police operatives in collaboration with local vigilante groups to the scene of the abduction.
“The monarch and his wife were forcibly taken to an unknown destination, believed to be the surrounding bushes and mountains,” explained DSP Ramhan Nansel. “In light of this, a specialized team consisting of detectives, anti-kidnapping unit, and tactical personnel from the command has been mobilized to ensure the prompt rescue of the traditional ruler and his wife.”
As the incident has caused significant concern among the residents of Nasarawa State, authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to rescue the Emir and his wife unharmed.
