Nigerian rap sensation Ice Prince expressed profound admiration for fellow rapper M.I. Abaga, hailing him as one of the greatest rappers in the world.
The rapper stated this while appearing on Fresh Off The Boat Podcast. Ice Prince went on to credit M.I. Abaga for playing a pivotal role in shaping his own successful music career.
“I can put M.I. next to any rapper in the world. He made us study the game a lot. He played a huge role in my life,” Ice Prince emotionally stated during the podcast interview, speaking highly of M.I. Abaga’s impact and influence on the Nigerian rap scene.
The “Oleku” hitmaker did not stop there; he also lauded veteran Nigerian rapper, Modenine, as the finest metaphorical rapper to have ever graced the Earth.
“Don’t see anybody that raps better than Mode 9 (Modenine) on planet Earth. He is the best metaphorical rapper ever to exist,” Ice Prince proclaimed, acknowledging Modenine’s unparalleled mastery of lyrical metaphors and wordplay.
During the engaging interview, Ice Prince also voiced concerns about the increasing dominance of foreign record labels in the Nigerian music industry.
He passionately called upon veteran music executives, to reclaim their foothold in the game and lend their experience to nurture local talents.
“Our OGs like Obi Asika, Audu Maikori, Kenny Ogungbe, and Segun Demuren need to have their foothold in the game. We need them as much as we need these international labels,” Ice Prince expressed.
