The council boss, Ogbesetore Bankole, passed away last week after a brief battle with an undisclosed illness. His untimely demise left a leadership vacuum that was temporarily filled by the vice chairman, Anthony Adebusola.
However, the unfortunate turn of events took an even more distressing twist as Anthony Adebusola, who had assumed the role of Acting Chairman, tragically passed away last Saturday. In a conversation with Vanguard, Saka Ogunleye, the former commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, confirmed the devastating news of the vice chairman’s demise. Ogunleye expressed deep sorrow as he shared, “It is on a sad note, painful, and pathetic that I’m here again to announce the tragic death of our council vice chairman, Hon Anthony Adebusola.”
“This unfortunate death occurred yesterday after a brief illness. It is painful that we lost both our elected council chairman and his amiable loyal vice chairman within one week,” Ogunleye lamented, clearly disturbed by the consecutive losses. “Like a bad movie, so sad a story. Ko ye mi oo,” he added, urging everyone to pray for the council and the grieving family members left behind by the departed officials.
