Crystal Palace and Tottenham vow to eradicate racism from football

Crystal Palace Football Club has pledged to ban a supporter after a video of the individual making an alleged racist gesture towards Tottenham Hotspur’s South Korean forward Son Heung-min surfaced online. The incident took place during the 89th minute of Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Palace on Saturday, when Son was being substituted.

As Son was leaving the pitch, he walked past a group of Palace fans, one of whom is seen in the video making the alleged racist gesture. Palace Football Club stated in a release that they were aware of the video that had been circulating online and reports that had been submitted to them.

They added that they would not tolerate such behaviour and that the individual in question would face a club ban once identified. The club also shared evidence with the police, and they are working together to identify the person responsible for the gesture.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club also released a statement, indicating that they were working closely with Palace and the police to identify the individual involved. They expressed their concern regarding the incident, stating that discrimination of any kind is unacceptable and has no place in society or football.

Son was subjected to racist abuse earlier this season during Tottenham’s match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in August. Chelsea Football Club imposed a lifetime ban on a season ticket holder after a video emerged of a supporter in the home end making a racist gesture towards Son during the 2-2 draw.

Tottenham stated that they would do everything in their power to ensure that the individual responsible for the gesture towards Son at Crystal Palace will receive the strongest possible action, as was the case with the individual who racially abused Son at Chelsea.
