He said the reason for the delay is that Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, was abroad for about a month, and the party wants to carry him along in the decision-making process.

In March, Adamu announced that the party, in collaboration with Tinubu, was working on a formula to share the positions. However, over a month later, the party is yet to reveal how the positions will be zoned.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday after a meeting of the national working committee (NWC) of the APC, Adamu said that the party intends to involve everyone in its decisions.

“When we do the zoning meeting, we don’t just go alone as a party, zoning is to take along the person who has the mandate of this country, the president-elect, Senator Bola Tinibu,” he said.

“We want to take him along, he traveled out of the country after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along.”

Felix Morka, the spokesperson for the APC, also spoke with reporters, stating that the party is not in a hurry to zone the national assembly leadership positions.

“We looked at some internal and domestic housekeeping matters with a colleague that you know who has expressed his concerns about something he believes the party should be doing,” Morka said.

“We deliberated completely about it, and as we speak, a committee that was set up to complete that conversation is in progress. It is important that the consultation is done, and done properly, that is what is going on right now.”

The delay in zoning the national assembly leadership positions has been a cause for concern among party members, as it affects the distribution of power and influence within the party. However, the APC has assured that the decision-making process will be inclusive and thorough.
