The Minister of State for Labour and Employment in Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, has declared his assets and assured the public that the records can be verified at relevant government agencies. This statement comes after an exchange of words between Keyamo and Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, regarding asset declaration.

Shaibu had requested that the National Assembly make public its investigation into the N52bn Special Works Programme implemented by Keyamo across the 774 local government areas of the country.

In response, Shaibu demanded that the report be released after claims that Keyamo acquired a house in the United States worth over $302,000. However, Keyamo quickly responded by stating that he had declared his assets and invited anyone in doubt to contact relevant government agencies.

Keyamo clarified that he had informed relevant government agencies of the closure of his foreign accounts and the repatriation of his funds to Nigeria before he was appointed Minister. He also stated that his assets declaration is available for public scrutiny and that he does not rely on government funds or patronage to survive.

In fact, Keyamo encouraged Nigerians to scrutinize public officials and to request for their assets declaration forms. He expressed his support for anyone who wishes to investigate any public officer, including himself, stating that it is a patriotic act to do so.

In conclusion, Keyamo has declared his assets and made them available for public scrutiny. He has also encouraged Nigerians to scrutinize public officials and to request for their assets declaration forms.
