Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has released a statement on Wednesday regarding the recent Governorship rerun elections in Adamawa state. In the statement, Tinubu urged the police to investigate the controversy surrounding the election and advised aggrieved candidates to follow legitimate means in addressing their grievances.
The statement was personally signed by him and was also a post-election assessment. Tinubu also extended congratulations to the winners of the Supplementary Governorship elections held in Kebbi and Adamawa States on April 15, 2023.
Tinubu acknowledged the winners of the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly during the last round of elections in states where such took place. He also urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of their respective constituents.
He further observed the largely peaceful atmosphere that pervaded the supplementary election on Saturday, April 15, and was glad that citizens have accepted democratic norms and have unalloyed faith in the electoral process.
However, Tinubu noted the controversy surrounding the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election and called on police authorities to fully investigate all that transpired during the election. He emphasized the need for democratic contest and one winner, urging the aggrieved to pursue legitimate means of addressing their grievances.
With the conclusion of the 2023 elections, Tinubu welcomed all those who have been elected to brace up and serve the people with diligence and dedication. He called on them to join hands with him as the President-elect in the pursuit of their agenda to renew the hopes of the Nigerian people in a better, stronger, more secure, economically vibrant and prosperous Nigeria.
