Afrobeats superstar, Davido, recently paid a visit to the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, ahead of his much-anticipated concert in the state. The visit was prompted by the need to ensure the safety of his fans and hosts who will attend his ‘Timeless’ concert scheduled to hold on April 23 at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
As the boss of 30BG, Davido emphasized the importance of partnering with the police force to ensure adequate security measures are in place for all attendees and hosts. He further stated that the safety of his fans is paramount and partnering with the Lagos State Police will go a long way in achieving this.
In his words, “People are really concerned about security and so that is why we are here to let people know that we are putting in measures, collaborating with Lagos State police to secure the fans that come to watch the show, to get in and leave safely.”
Davido also expressed the significance of artistes visiting the police command in collaboration to secure the environment. He stated that it is not only the organizers that should take responsibility for security measures, but artistes should also contribute to ensuring the safety of their fans.
He said, “I also thought that it’s important for us to come because people don’t do this. Artistes wouldn’t come, maybe it’ll just be the organizers that’ll organize some police on the day of the show. But I feel after this, a lot of people will begin to visit the police command in collaboration to secure the environment.”
Furthermore, Davido highlighted the possibility of unruly behavior from some fans during the concert and emphasized the need for adequate security measures to prevent any unpleasant incidents. “It could get a bit rough. Some fans may become over-excited and disturb the other fans,” he said.
