Ondo State Governor Begins 15-Day Annual Leave
Akeredolu

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has embarked on a 15-working day vacation as the first installment of his 2023 annual leave. The governor made this known in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, which was transmitted to the Assembly.

The leave, according to the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, will begin on Monday, April 3, 2023, and end on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, both days inclusive.

During the governor’s absence, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor, will be in charge of the governor’s functions. This is in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution, which provides that the Deputy Governor assumes the office of the Governor in the event of the Governor’s absence.

It is worthy to note that the Governor’s vacation does not affect the day-to-day running of the state. The Deputy Governor is fully capable and empowered to perform the functions of the Governor while the Governor is away on vacation.

Governor Akeredolu is expected to resume his duties on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. This is a routine exercise as stipulated by the law to ensure that the Governor is adequately rested to carry out his duties effectively.
