Mr Chuks Anaele, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Ikeduru constituency in Imo, has expressed optimism that his party will emerge victorious across the various constituencies in the state. Speaking to reporters after casting his vote at booth 006, Umuwodu village hall in Ikeduru council area, Anaele expressed confidence in the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and thanked the security agencies for ensuring a hitch-free process.
“We believe that INEC will abide by the electoral guidelines and insist on the use of BVAS in line with the electoral law. There is a low turnout, but those who came out have voted,” Anaele said. He urged the people of the state to remain law-abiding and not take the law into their hands.
Anaele, however, condemned the attack on one of his aides, Mr Kuti Williams, by thugs suspected to be working for a political party at booth 014 Umubom. He warned that any further attempt at an attack would be vehemently resisted.
It should be recalled that voting was peaceful in various booths of Ikeduru council area, with a large voter turnout and a heavy presence of security personnel.
