Chief Ayirimi Emami, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, has called on citizens of the Niger Delta region to support the party’s presidential candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming presidential election.
Chief Emami made this call on Wednesday during a rally in Warri, Delta State, where he addressed party chieftains and faithful.
Chief Emami highlighted the historic call for power shift by Southern governors, now known as the Asaba Declaration, which was made in the South-South region. He urged people in the oil-rich states to make this call achievable by voting for the APC presidential candidate. He also emphasized the need to promote national unity by de-emphasizing ethno-religious sentiments and striving for excellence in all spheres of democratic development.
According to Chief Emami, the APC governors in the North have consistently stated that power should shift to the South at the end of President Buhari’s tenure on May 29th this year, which is in line with the Asaba Declaration by 17 Southern Nigerian governors last year. He believes that electing Tinubu as President will bring renewed hope for Nigeria and fast-track the country’s progress, especially in terms of economic diversification.
Chief Emami praised Tinubu’s achievements as the former governor of Lagos State and his ability to unearth resourceful persons and project them in their areas of strength, irrespective of tribe, religion, and political affiliations. He believes that these attributes are what Nigeria needs from its leaders starting May 29th this year.
