The federal government inaugurated the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) governing board on Wednesday.
The agency had been without a board for nearly four years.
The Senate confirmed the nominations of the Chairman and Board Members of the Commission on December 20, 2022, after President Muhammadu Buhari sent their names in accordance with the NDDC (Establishment) Act, 2008.
During the inauguration, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, urged the board members to be above board, adding that they should work toward policies that would contribute to the coordinated development of the Niger Delta.
Mrs Sharon Ikeazu, Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs, also urged the new board to work toward restoring hope to the people of the region.
