The Federal Airport Authority Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reopened the domestic runway (18L/36R) of Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) in Lagos, for flight operations.
FAAN disclosed this in a tweet on Friday.
The development is coming four months after the runway was closed in July.
It was reported that the runway was closed to enable the installation of navigational facilities.
FAAN had planned to install approach lights, runway lights (threshold and center, edge light), and others on the runway, which until the closure could only operate sunrise services.
FAAN said after the installation of the new aids, the runway would operate both sunrise and sunset flights, which would further ease the burden of operators.
“Domestic runway 18L/36R completed and open for 24 hours flight operations, installation of CAT Ill airfield ground lighting systems completed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos. Today 11 November 2022.”
