A Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), operating in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday morning repelled an attack on the town by terrorists killing nine and arresting five of them.
According to the sources, the terrorists stormed the community riding on 10 different motorcycles but were repelled by members of the CJFT in a fierce gun duel that resulted in the killings and arrest of some of the terrorists.
The source said out of the 10 motorcycles used by bandits, only one escaped from the town, as the CJTF captured nine of the motorcycles they came with.
Although the state police command said it was yet to be officially informed about the incident, sources in the town revealed that the terrorists staged the attack on the town around 4.30 p.m on Sunday shortly after the evening prayers.
The terrorists reportedly stormed the town which is the headquarters of the Local Government Area in no fewer than ten motorcycles.
The civilian task force team was said to have then confronted the terrorists, the development which led to the death of nine of them, arresting five members of the gang and impounding nine of the motorcycles the terrorists used for the operation.
Sources revealed that the situation was still tense in the town as of Monday as members of the civilian task force had reportedly positioned themselves again to ward off any surprise attack by the terrorists.
