Indigenous musician, Phyno Fino has actually exempted himself from the list of rappers in the music scene. Phyno, who is known as a Nigerian rapper obviously doesn’t want to be dragged into the recent call-out by MI Abaga on rappers that are not keeping it real.
In his recent interview with popular music tv station, HipTV, made the bold statement that he’s a musician and not a rapper. Phyno took music by the horns when he released a massive hip hop joint ‘Multiply (Remix)’ which featured Timaya, Flavour, Mr Raw & MI. Later on, being inspired by Olamide coming from the other local scene, Phyno took the spot to represent the East with his local style.
Phyno has been a prominent Igbo rapper until the diversification set in. If Phyno claims he’s no longer a rapper, is it not safe to say Olamide should not be regarded as a rapper as well? ***Just saying*
Watch the interview below, where Phyno denies the rap genre.
