Arsenal are now in the forefront to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The North London club are in the market for a striker with Alex Lacazette leaving on a free transfer after signing a five-year deal back in 2017. Osimhen has emerged a top option for the Gunners who intend to continue building a youthful side and the Nigeria international fits their profile.
The 23-year-old has already hit double figures this season and has been a huge part of the Napoli team. Also a fan favourite, Osimhen is happy at Napoli who have already secured Champions League qualification ahead of next season. Arsenal are looking to meet the player’s valuation of £60m. However, the Gunners have other options in the centre-forward role with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Ivan Toney and Jonathan David all on the cards of the Arsenal board.
Osimhen is considered as a forward who is familiar with the European scene, having been a player at Sporting Charleroi, Vfl Wolfsburg, LOSC Lille and currently Napoli. The Nigerian “Hitman”, as he is fondly called is happy at Napoli but the club will consider a move if the price is right. The club will go no less than £60m for Osimhen but Arsenal are hoping a £45m fee can be agreed upon.
Various clubs are also monitoring Osimhen and no agreement has been reached with Arsenal yet as the Gunners will still assess other options and come back with a better offer come June.
