Joker star Jaoquin Phoenix and his wife Rooney Mara are now the parents of a baby boy.
Per a report from BuzzFeed, Russian director Viktor Kossakovsky made the revelation, saying that the couple has welcomed a “beautiful son” during a Q&A session at the 2020 Zurich Film Festival this past weekend while promoting his film Gunda.
Explaining Joaquin Phoenix’s absence, the filmmaker said, “He just got a baby, by the way, his name was … a beautiful son named River, so he cannot promote the film now.”
Phoenix and Mara’s son’s name is a tribute to River Phoenix, the brother of the actor who died of a drug overdose at the age of 23 in 1993.
