Nigerians on social media are fed with the online complaints of former vice president Atiku Abubakar and are urging him to take to the streets to protest over the irregularities in the country.
The call comes following the recent increase in electricity tariff as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) stated that Nigerians would have to pay more to enjoy longer hours of power supply.
Reacting to the increment on Tuesday, September 2, 2020, Atiku shared a post on Twitter, voicing his rejection of the hike and calling it “ill-timed and ill-advised”.
I reject the increased electricity tariffs. Coming out of the lockdown, Nigerians need a stimulus, not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face. Many Nigerians have not earned an income for months, due to no fault of theirs. This increase is ill-timed and ill-advised.

Twitter users have now beckoned on him to protest and not just make online complaints like before.
See their tweets below:
Atiku has tweeted against the hike in electricity just like millions of Nigerians have been tweeting against it.
He should leave his villa and hit the street so the rest of us can join him. You can stay behind and run commentary. That's fine https://t.co/Jjf2GgFLdp

You are a prominent figure in the biggest opposition party in the country. A third party media will not send a stronger message. The streets are free; lead a protest, Mr Atiku. https://t.co/nB5IpRK1bh

Atiku bankrolled Buhari’s 2015 electioneering campaigns
Saraki, Dogara & other musketeers joined him in that crusade.
