Ronaldo’s future was the subject of speculation following Maurizio Sarri’s sacking but new boss Pirlo is keen to work with the forward and build his team around him and another Juve star
Andrea Pirlo says Cristiano Ronaldo must get used to a fluctuating system under his management after already holding showdown talks with the forward. The new Juventus boss was unveiled by the club on Tuesday as they embark on a new era following Maurizio Sarri’s surprise sacking.
Under the old regime Juventus stars were largely deployed in a strict 4-3-1-2 formation as part of the disciplined ‘Sarri-ball’ approach. While that system brought Sarri success in Serie A, it did not help him avoid the axe after his shortcomings in Europe.
Pirlo is now under pressure to deliver what Sarri could not, and key to those plans will be the role of Ronaldo, as well as Serie A MVP Paulo Dybala. Andrea Pirlo said:
“[Paulo] Dybala was never for sale, he is part of the project. If both can they match on the field? As long as there is sacrifice and altruism. “The more quality players the better.”
Andrea Pirlo has now debunked that both Ronaldo and Dybala had been linked with transfers elsewhere in the aftermatch of Juventus’ disappointing Champions League exit to Lyon.
